  • I am sitting down, beginning to type, with absolutely no idea what I'm going to type about.  I suppose the weather is always a good topic to open up a conversation...if you would call this a conversation.

I love winter, and snow, but even more than that I love spring, and flowers.  This winter has been colder and longer than any I have ever lived through (or at least it seems that way!).  I'm feel that I've gone sledding enough, I've had enough walks in the snow, I've built a snowman:

and am officially ready for spring.  But spring won't be officially ready for another month.  So the waiting continues.

Conversations are always best when you don't do all the talking, so now, it is your turn.  I'll ask some questions, to get you started

    What is your favorite season?

    Why?

Since nothing else is coming to me, I find that my part in this conversation shall be only about the weather.  So with that, enjoy this cold, but beautifully sunny day!

I apologize for my horrific lack of use on this xanga, but am going to bring it back to life (for real this time; you'll see!).  I find that facebook gives no way to truly express yourself by writing anything of meaning, or decorating to your style.  Lame, lame, lame...xanga is definitely the way to go.  Keeping up, of course, with your facebook as well.  It seems that this is a skill which I do not possess.  But I promise to try my very best to be a diligent steward of xanga, as well as facebook.

A very shortened version of the past two months of my life is as follows:

December brought lots of snow, which of course brought sledding, snow angels, ice skating, and long walks.  There are times when it rings with silence as it snows, and you breath in the fresh, icy air.  The snow crunches under your feet as you walk...those are the best times in winter.  New Years was spent among dear friends, ringing in 2008 with much joy!  I'm looking forward to 2008; the new friends, experiences, trials, and blessings it will bring.

Annie jr. is coming up next week!  Time has simply flown by, and I am amazed at what we've been able to accomplish in these few short weeks.  They have been busy, but worthwhile, and so very fun!

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

    with love,

    Jess

    Why Should the Fire Die?

Well, let me brush the dust off this thing, and see if it still works...

Ah, yes, I can see that it is still in good working order, if not a bit rusty and out of practice.  I hope I find you all as happy and content as I am on this blustery fall day.  How quickly the time has been flying, like the crunchety leaves blowing along on the sidewalk outside my house... All is well with Les Mis, and I cannot wait for performances to begin.  I'm already dreading the end.  Such an amazingly powerful show is a rare privilege to perform in, and I am savoring every minute of it.  Speaking of savoring, I have discovered a deliciously savory drink; spiced chai teaI tried it for the first time today and was quite pleased with it.  I have no doubt it will soon be a new favorite, but as I have only had it once, I cannot call it that yet.

Our family had another delightful weekend at Fall Family Camp in Michigan, now called "Autumn Adventure Camp."  Perfect weather, wonderful fellowship, delicious food, and excellent Bible teaching were the highlights of the trip.  It's so nice to get away and surround yourself with God's creation, shown through the vibrant reds and yellows of the leaves and the sun shining down.  I love it up there.

I hope you enjoy the blessings of this pre-holiday season!

    grace,

    jess

"When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers-the moon and the stars you have set in place-what are people that you should care for them?  Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor....O Lord our Lord, how majestic is your Name in all the earth!"

I love flowers.  How greatly they display our Creator's majesty.  Today we went to the Farmer's Market and I bought a beautiful bunch of flowers.  I have decided that over the fall and winter I'm going to learn all about flowers and plants, so that I may better grow and care for them next spring!  I've been inspired by my Grandma; she has the most beautiful flowers and plants all year long.  She's the best gardener I've ever known.  Hopefully I'll be able to meet the "Grandma Allen" flower standards.

    What is your favorite flower?

    Matthew 6:28-30, 33

And why do you worry about clothes?  See how the lilies of the field grow.  They do not labor or spin.  Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.  If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

    Blessings!
